Barb Schilling is a dedicated sign artist who made history by attending the very first Walldog Meet in Allerton, Iowa, in 1993. For years, she channeled her artistic talents into her commercial shop, Signature Signs in Anoka, Minnesota, which specialized in high-quality logos, banners, vehicle graphics, and custom carved cedar signs. Although she is now retired from the daily operations of her business, Barb has not slowed down her creative pursuits. Alongside her husband Maris, she continues to fuel her lifelong artistic passion by traveling and actively participating in traditional Walldog and Letterhead meets, keeping the vibrant legacy of hand-lettered sign painting alive.

Renowned sign artist Steve Estes holds a foundational place in the history of the Walldogs, a legendary group of mural and sign painters dedicated to preserving local history. After attending the very first official Walldog Meet in Allerton, Iowa in 1993, Estes eagerly picked up the movement’s torch by hosting the second historic gathering in 1995 at Kenlake, Kentucky. He also hosted the Walldogs again in 1997 at Kenlake, KY. For many years, he channeled his passion for the trade into running a commercial sign shop based out of Possum Trot, Kentucky, while simultaneously establishing himself as a highly accomplished watercolor and pastel fine artist. Today, Estes continues to “keep the spirit alive” by traveling across the country to Walldog festivals, turning the mural-painting tradition into a generational legacy alongside his daughter, several grandchildren, and their close friends.

Bob Behounek is a legendary figure in the sign painting industry, widely celebrated for his visually appealing layouts and masterful skills with both lettering and pinstriping brushes. Operating as an independent craftsman throughout his career, he has shared his immense expertise with the community as an extensive contributor to SignCraft Magazine. His dedication to preserving the trade is evident from his early days attending seminal gatherings like Mike Jackson’s Oklahoma Bash Letterheads Meet to his role as a co-founder of the Chicago Brushmasters. Today, Behounek continues to fuel his lifelong passion for the craft by actively participating in Pinhead, Letterhead, and Walldog events, inspiring new generations of traditional artisans.
